Rogers Place Events September 2026: What’s Happening in Downtown Edmonton

September is well underway, but some of the month’s biggest events at Rogers Place are still ahead. Here are the Rogers Place events still to come in September 2026.

The second half of September brings country music, rock, comedy and the return of hockey to downtown Edmonton, with an especially busy stretch from September 17 through the end of the month. Cody Johnson arrives first, followed by Edmonton Oilers preseason hockey, the Edmonton Oil Kings home opener, Bring Me The Horizon, Journey, Jimmy Carr and the Battle of Alberta.

Then, on September 29, the Oilers officially open the 2026-27 NHL regular season at home against the Vancouver Canucks.

Whether you are heading downtown for a concert, a hockey game or simply want to know what will be happening around Rogers Place and ICE District this month, here is what is still to come.

Cody Johnson at Rogers Place: September 17

Country music returns to Rogers Place when Cody Johnson brings his Live 26 tour to Edmonton on Thursday, September 17.

Doors are scheduled to open at 6:25 p.m., with the show beginning at 7:25 p.m. Edmonton is one of three Canadian stops Johnson added for September, along with Vancouver and Winnipeg.

The concert also marks the beginning of a particularly active stretch around Rogers Place. Hockey returns just two days later, and major events continue throughout the remainder of September.

Edmonton Oilers vs. Winnipeg Jets: September 19

The Edmonton Oilers return to Rogers Place on Saturday, September 19, when they host the Winnipeg Jets for their first game of the 2026-27 preseason.

Puck drop is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. It is one of four preseason games on Edmonton’s shortened schedule this year, with the Oilers also visiting Winnipeg and Vancouver before returning home to face Calgary.

For Oil Country, September 19 is the first opportunity of the season to get back inside Rogers Place and see the team in action.

Edmonton Oil Kings Home Opener: September 20

Hockey continues the following afternoon when the Edmonton Oil Kings host the Calgary Hitmen on Sunday, September 20 at 4:00 p.m.

The Battle of Alberta matchup is the Oil Kings’ 2026-27 home opener and kicks off a 34-game home schedule at Rogers Place. The game is also part of the team’s family-focused opening weekend programming.

The Oil Kings return to Rogers Place one week later to host the Medicine Hat Tigers on September 27.

Bring Me The Horizon at Rogers Place: September 23

The pace changes considerably on Wednesday, September 23, when Bring Me The Horizon arrives at Rogers Place.

The British rock band brings its POST HUMAN: NeX GEn – The Third Ascension Program tour to Edmonton, with Motionless in White and The Plot in You appearing in support. Doors open at 6:00 p.m., and the concert begins at 7:00 p.m.

The Edmonton stop is part of a limited North American run and marks the band’s return to selected Western Canadian cities after nearly 15 years.

Journey at Rogers Place: September 24

One night later, Journey brings The Final Frontier Tour to Rogers Place on Thursday, September 24.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with the show beginning at 7:30 p.m. The tour celebrates more than five decades of Journey’s music and brings the band’s current farewell-era tour through Edmonton.

With Bring Me The Horizon on Wednesday and Journey on Thursday, Rogers Place will welcome two very different generations of rock fans on consecutive nights.

Jimmy Carr at Rogers Place: September 25

The run continues Friday night when Jimmy Carr brings his Laughs Funny Tour to Rogers Place on September 25.

Doors open at 7:00 p.m., with the show beginning at 8:00 p.m. Edmonton is one of 31 Canadian stops on Carr’s coast-to-coast tour and one of five Alberta dates.

That gives Rogers Place three consecutive nights of major entertainment from September 23 through 25 before hockey takes over again on Saturday.

Edmonton Oilers vs. Calgary Flames: September 26

The Oilers finish their preseason at Rogers Place against the Calgary Flames on Saturday, September 26 at 7:00 p.m.

Even before the regular season begins, a Battle of Alberta matchup tends to draw attention. This game will also serve as Edmonton’s final preseason test before the team begins its regular-season schedule three nights later.

Edmonton Oil Kings vs. Medicine Hat Tigers: September 27

The Oil Kings return Sunday afternoon to host the Medicine Hat Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on September 27.

It is Edmonton’s second Oil Kings home game of the season and another Family Fun Sunday on the team’s promotional schedule.

Edmonton Oilers Home Opener: September 29

September saves one of its biggest Rogers Place dates for last.

The Edmonton Oilers open the 2026-27 NHL regular season at home against the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday, September 29. Puck drop is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. MT.

The game is part of the NHL’s opening-night schedule and begins a home-and-home series between the two Pacific Division teams, with Edmonton travelling to Vancouver for the return matchup on October 1. The 2026-27 season also marks the NHL’s return to an expanded 84-game regular-season schedule.

For Edmonton hockey fans, September 29 is the date when preseason anticipation officially turns into another season in Oil Country.

Heading to Rogers Place This September?

Rogers Place is located at 10220 104 Avenue NW in the heart of downtown Edmonton’s ICE District. The arena is integrated into the downtown road and public transportation network and can be reached by LRT, bus, vehicle, bicycle or on foot from many parts of the central core.

The latter half of September will be particularly active around the arena. From September 23 through 29 alone, Rogers Place hosts Bring Me The Horizon, Journey, Jimmy Carr, an Oilers preseason game, an Oil Kings game and the Oilers home opener.

If you are driving downtown, allowing extra time for event traffic and parking is worthwhile. Visitors using transit or walking from elsewhere in the core may find those options particularly useful on the busiest nights.
